10. Fireworks: At the bottom of our list, Fireworks can be fun, but it's important to be super duper safe. Not only can they be dangerous for little hands, they can also set fires in dry conditions. Sparklers are nice, though. And it's always fun to watch your local municipal fireworks show.
9. Races: Sack races, egg races and three-legged races are a fun way to add a little competition to your festivities. Make sure you think of a fun prize or trophy for the winner(s).
8. Toss Games: Bean bag toss and horseshoe toss are another set of competitive games. While they take a little more set up, they are easy to organize and fun for all ages.
7. Giant Yard Games: There are some fun options, like giant Jenga, Checkers and even Connect Four. So get out there and live large.
6. Musical Activities: If you have lots of baked goods on hand, organize a Cake Walk and when the music stops, the lucky winner gets a treat. Get some folks together and start a sing-a-long. Karaoke is always a hit, and these days, hand held Karaoke mics and YouTube make it easier than ever.
5. Eating Contests: As long as you don't take it too seriously, a pie eating contest can be fun. And watermelon seed spitting contests are great, plus you get to eat plenty of watermelon!
4. Water Games: Break out the slip and slide, or start a water balloon fight. Just make sure everyone brings their suit.
3. Cook Off: Gather your best cooks and chefs and challenge them to a cooking or baking contest! Have all your guests rate each dish and give the winner plenty of bragging rights.
2. Mini-Parade: Encourage the little ones to dress up for a short parade and vote on the best costume. This works for pets as well.
