Tim Tells It: Accessibility in Restaurants

Q. Dear Tim Tells It, last week I went to a restaurant and found it wasn't very accessible for my wheelchair. What are some features to look for when going out to eat?

A. Some things to look for in a restaurant are wide aisles and spaces between tables and chairs, double doors or a door wide enough for a wheelchair, ramps, and even adjustable height tables. Two restaurants that I know have these features are McDonalds and Blake's. But we want restaurants (and other establishments) to be aware of this issue, so make a call, send an e-mail or leave a note in a comment box telling the business ways that they can improve accessibility.
