Staff Member of the Month: Phil
Phil is an artist teacher and service coordinator in our Day Arts Program. He has worked here almost 3 years and has taught such classes as: Board Game Design, Supernatural Art, Sewing, Anime and Cartooning and Crafting, among others. His favorite class so far has been Drawing Upon the Strange, where he got to show the students all sorts of fun and wacky art they might not see in museums or realize has big groups of fans around the world. When asked about the art he likes to create, Phil said, "I like to create comic book style art, fantasy worlds and characters, Viking and Wild West period art; anything that tells a fun and cool story!" He is influenced by many artists from Mitch Byrd to Gary Larson, and E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson.
Phil lives in Albuquerque with his wife, Leigh, and their 5 (!) cats: Phoebe, Mozart, Jasper, Bandit and Chewbacca. He originally hails from Scranton, PA. His favorite food is pizza, his favorite colors are green and black, and he drives a silver Hyundai Sonata.
