Super Blue Blood Moon

The lunar event as seen in New Mexico

This morning everyone was talking about the rare lunar eclipse. If you don't know, early this morning (with maximum eclipse at around 6:30 am MST) there was a lunar trifecta: a supermoon, where the moon is closer to earth in its orbit and appears both larger and brighter; a blue moon or a second full moon in one month; and a blood moon, where the moon glows red during a lunar eclipse.

While many staff members and apprentice artists got up to experience this rare event, others (like most of the blog class), chose to sleep in and see the pictures later. They are pretty spectacular, though!
