October Staff Member of the Month: Alex

Alex may only have been with VSA for 7 months, but she's already a part of the VSA family. Alex currently resides in Albuquerque, but she has lived all over the world! She hails from the Philippines, but she has also called Tanzania, Venezuela, New York and Santa Fe home. In Santa Fe, Alex had a store that sold new and vintage clothing. She now works here at VSA as a dance teacher and the artistic director of the Buen Viaje Dance Company. She has an adorable son named Kai and a dog named Ava.

Alex loves to travel and has snorkeled all over the world. Her other hobbies include dancing, cooking (and eating food!), and finger painting. Though she is a performing artist, she enjoys the visual arts, especially abstract art. Her favorite color is black. Her favorite movies are The Princess Bride and The 5th Element. Her favorite foods are really all food, except eggplant and cilantro.

Alex is a a skilled and elegant dancer. She admires the dance stylings of Alvin Ailey, an African American dancer who popularized modern dance and helped integrate dance primarily in the 60s and 70s. Her favorite type of dance is contemporary dance.
