VSA Staff Member of the Month: Tom
Tom (affectionately known as Tom Tom) is a visual arts teacher here at VSA, but he also dabbles in music. He teaches People Art, Animal Art and Advanced Painting and Drawing. He also leads our Jazz Band. He has been teaching at VSA for 4 years.
Tom is originally from the Chicago area. He now lives in Rio Rancho with his wife of 36 years and their two cats. They have two grown children. His son Brendan even taught music here for awhile. We called them the Wah Wahs.
When asked about his favorite color, Tom answered: rainbow! He likes to work with acrylic paints and his artwork features people and nature. He recently had a show at the Loma Linda Library. He is currently working on a jazz music painting series. As a musician, Tom plays mainly horns. He plays the trumpet, flugel horn, trombone and the flute. Though he no longer plays with a band, he often jams with friends all over Albuquerque. As for his hobbies, Tom loves to draw and listen to music.
