How To: Dying Easter Eggs
Easter is right around the corner, and with that in mind we wanted to tell our readers how to dye Easter eggs. There are many techniques, but here is a simple version.
First off, gather your supplies:
hard boiled eggs
paper towels or newspaper
cup or bowl deep enough to submerge an egg
tongs, an egg dipper or a slotted spoon
half a cup of boiling water
1 tsp white vinegar
liquid food coloring (about 20 drops per color)
Once you have your supplies, let your hard boiled eggs cool down and protect your surface by laying down newspaper or paper towels. Next, fill your cup or bowl with the mixture of boiling hot water, food coloring and vinegar. Then place your egg in an egg dipper or slotted spoon and dunk in the colored mixture, turning occasionally to distribute color evenly. Keep your eggs in the color for at least 5 minutes, or longer, depending on how dark you want your color. Finally, remove egg and set aside to dry.
