Top Ten: Better Call Saul Facts


We all know that Better Call Saul is filmed here in Albuquerque, but did you know these interesting facts?

10. What's In a Name? Better Call Saul is named after the episode in Breaking Bad where we first meet Saul Goodman.

9. Funny Ha-ha When Vince Gilligan first came up with the concept for the show, it was supposed to be a half hour comedy. Which makes sense, because star Bob Odenkirk is a well known comedian.

8. Only the Beginning?

While much of Better Call Saul is a prequel, filling in Jimmy/Saul's backstory, it actaully starts off in the future and jumps around in time.

7. Good Chuck, Bad Chuck

Jimmy's brother, Chuck McGill, was originally supposed to be a good guy, but the writers realized he worked better as a baddie mid-way through Season 1.

6. Tequila!

The fictonal tequila brand Zafiro Anejo appears in Better Call Saul, but we first saw it in Breaking Bad when Gus Fring uses the spirit to poison a drug cartel.

5. A Colorful Tradition

It's well known that Vince Gilligan assigned specific colors to certain characters in Breaking Bad, and in Better Call Saul the bad characters are often associated with "hot" colors, like red, while the good characters are associated with "cooler" colors, like blue.

4. Best Laid Plans

When Saul imagines the best case scenario at the end of Breaking Bad, he says that the best outcome would be if he winds up managing a Cinnebon in Omaha, Nebraska. That's exactly where we find him in the opening scene of Better Call Saul.

3. Familiar Faces

You may recognize some of the characters in Better Call Saul as ones encountered in Breaking Bad. From Gus Fring to Mike Ermentraut, you'll probably learn more about some of your favorite characters. Will we see Jesse Pinkman or even Walter White?

2. It's All in the Details

In the very first episode of Better Call Saul, Jimmy is driving a junker, but he parks next to a fancy Cadillac DeVille, which is what his character winds up driving as Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad.

Ever try saying "It's all good, man" three times fast? Try it and you'll get the main character's pseudonym: Saul Goodman.
